General-

City dates back to the Republic of Texas when it was settled as part of St. Peter's colony as early as 1846.  The village was established when the St. Louis Southwestern Railroad was established in the early 1880's.  The city is named for Addison Robertson, the postmaster.  Today, surrounded by Dallas to the north and east and Farmer's Branch and Carrollton to the west, the city offers numerous opportunities for shopping, lodging and dining within a five - mile radius.  Addison Airport is the third busiest aviation airport in the country.

Addison Center Theatre-

Cavanaugh Flight Museum-

Enjoy history from World Wars I & II  and Korea.   You'll see aircraft refurbished to  the condition they were in when they rolled off the assembly line.  The collection includes the Fokker D VII, Sopwith Camel, P - 51 Mustang, Spitfire, the MIG 15 and others.  The museum also includes one of the largest collections of signed print art in the Southwest.  All aircraft are housed in comfortable, fully enclosed hangars.  A gift shop is on the premises.   Open Mon. - Sat. 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.; Sun 11 a.m. - 5 p.m. Located at the Addison Airport, 4572 Claire Chennault.
