General-
A Small agricultural communitythat was
first settled in 1898 on the vast Midwest Texas ranch lands
of Concho County. Original
name of Jordan changed in 1903 with
establishment of post office. Name, taken from nearby creek,
is Indian for "good returns from blowing wind."
Barrow Museum-
Over forty years of collecting
has created a collection focusing on early farm and ranch
days of Concho County including rare winch horse-drawn
equipment and farm implements, and memorabilia from around
the world. Four buildings house such diverse collections as
crystal, thousands of china and glass cats, a pipe organ,
Oriental carvings and furniture, antiques, 15,000 Indian
arrowheads and artifacts, gem and mineral collections and
special interest vehicles. Museum is on working ranch that
includes a herd of registered Longhorn cattle. Open Thurs.,
Fri., Sat. 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.; Sun. I - 5 p.m. Located 4.5 mi.
east on FM 765.
