General-
Floresville is named for
early rancher, Don Francisco Flores de Abrego, who
established his ranch about six miles northwest in 1832.
In 1833 this ranch became the heart and nucleus of
today's present town. This city is founded on land
donated by the generous Flores family.
Floresville is the current
Wilson County seat, and has been so since 1885.
Floresville
boasts a productive growing season of some 285 days!! This temperate climate makes this
city and surrounding communities a marketing point for
watermelons, flax, cotton, beef cattle, dairy and poultry
products.
The popular Little
Peanut Statue located at the local courthouse lawn
recognizes peanut crops productive growth in this area.
