Named by a group of excited pioneers, Elysian Fields
is presently a small town containing several old plantation houses. Located about 11 miles north, along FM 31, it is the larger city of Marshall
with all of its recreational possibilities, and medical and educational facilities,
including the Starr Family State Historical Park.
Also to the north is Caddo Lake with its fishing and boating
opportunities.
To the south, via FM 31 south and US 79 southwest, lies the city of
Carthage, Texas with further shopping, educational,
medical, and recreational resources
